A huge day of winter surf in Hampton, New Hampshire, USA. Not for the timid.
Hello there
Beginners luck?
Life is a daring adventure or nothing!
Be bold and leave your fear behind
Many students are afraid of making mistakes and therefore afraid to participate. Unfortunately this inhibits the learning process.
The fact is mistakes are tremendous learning opportunities and we often learn more from our mistakes than we ever could from being right.
"A man should never be afraid to admit that he was wrong, as this is but saying, in other words, that he is smarter today than he was yesterday". Alexander Pope
Be curious and thoughtful
Ask questions and relish the chance to learn new things. Have lots of ideas and opinions. Express yourself and continually expand your knowledge and skills. This is what makes us interesting people and helps us unlock our potential.
"The important thing is to not stop questioning. Curiosity has it's own reason for existing." Albert Einstein
Practice, Practice, Practice!
Nothing great comes easily but the more you practice the quicker and easier you will learn. Speak, read, write and listen to English as often as possible. Record and analyze your strengths and weaknesses. Start an English diary.
Pick something you are already interested in and make that a focus of study so you can enjoy yourself as you learn. If you like football watch English videos about football. If entertainment is your thing watch videos or news from Hollywood or listen to your favorite song and try to guess the lyrics.
"Practice like you've never won. Perform like you've never lost". unknown author
Believe in yourself
With proper practice comes confidence. Say that 5 times fast.
"Believe in yourself and you're halfway there." Thomas Jefferson
"Whether you think you can, or you can't, you're right." Henry Ford
